Summer's over: freezing rain and snow is on the way

It seems strange that we're behind British Columbia when it comes to winter weather this year!  I am thankful that the season is over since now I can rest my body after a long spring, summer and fall of working outside in other peoples' gardens.  I am committed to spending more time in MY garden next year since my neglect has contributed to the death of my beloved paperbark maple.   Although it snows no signs of being able to recover from bark exfoliation, courtesy our neighbourhood squirrels, I will keep an eye on it next spring to see if anything sprouts.  If not, I'll be online to see what gem I can find to replace it.  Perhaps I'll move the redbud I planted in the front to the backyard; stay tuned.

Here is what I call my 'inspirational' paperbark maple in a picture that was taken many, many years ago while I was out west.

RIP Acer griseum
